Black Myth: Zhong Kui is built around Zhong Kui, the famous demon-queller of Chinese folklore, but the game's final plot and setting details are still being developed. The safest story guide begins with the public identity of the project, not invented character biographies.

The official material presents a new Black Myth title with a single-player action-RPG format. The reveal's imagery and combat context point toward a supernatural journey, while the protagonist's folklore identity gives the project a different centre of gravity from Wukong.

That is a useful story expectation, not a full synopsis. Until Game Science publishes named chapters, characters or a plot summary, treat detailed “story leaks” as unverified.

Folklore versus game canon
